    From the Health Perspective

Fire governs heat, metabolism, and transformation, responsible for digestion and internal temperature regulation. In the Tibetan health perspective, the Fire element, known as mae (or me in some transliterations), is one of the five proto-elements that constitute all phenomena in the universe. It is responsible for maintaining the body's temperature, supporting a healthy complexion, and facilitating the development of the eyes and the sense of vision. The Fire element governs metabolic processes, digestion, and the transformation of food into energy and vitality. It is also associated with the internal processes that generate physical warmth and drive bodily functions such as assimilation and growth. From a holistic viewpoint, the Fire element is also linked to mental and emotional states.

According to Tibetan medicine, an imbalance in tripa is associated with anger, one of the three mental poisons, and can manifest as emotional volatility or aggression. The Fire element is thus not only a physical force, but also a key component in the interplay between body, mind, and environment, reflecting the system’s emphasis on interconnectedness.
