Dream Green Stupa Project
I want to find people interested in building a backyard stupa. Amitabha Family and Green Tara Style (Amogasiddhi Family), and I want to designate 0.25 acres of my 0.5 acres for this project. This is merit building project for people interested. I live in Syracuse suburbs of NY, with no Dharma around. It gets super windy here in the fall and snowy in winter. This stupa itself would benefit environment. Please let me know, if you are interested in creating this project with me. People will be able to come an visit anytime, I am also open to host mini-events, like fire-puja or incense offerings, since I have 2 spare bedrooms with 1/2 half bath downstairs, for 1 or 2 free overnight visitors during events. Buddhist only, from any sangha I know and you will have to share kitchen and a shower upstairs with us, sorry. Land will remain in the family as long as we live, and will be transferred to my sister and her family after all of our passing. Building something like this is unique, rare, and very fulfilling. But it is also beneficial. Stupas influence environment and weather in a positive way, they balance and stabilize negative energies when needed, creating serenity. Winds here, sometimes, feel like a hurricane or tornado, the first year I bought it huge pine tree felt on my lot during the first storm in September. Having stupa would be fantastic. In a winter, when we have almost 5 months of the snow and Norwegian gloom during a year, it would bring a lot of positive energy, vibrant color and lights would make everything feel happy. This year snow remained until late May with minute visit in June. We are only 2 hour from Canadian border and Niagara Falls and we have “bipolar weather”, about 80% of the time. With the exception of high elevation we have semi-Norwegian-Tibetan climate.
In my design Statue of Vira Vajradharma would be inside the main stupa body and inside the statue all other relics and items: Chöd scriptures, mantras collection, grains, drums, bells & incense, etc. More about why stupas are beneficial here.
The four sides of the stupa symbolize the 4 immeasurables: of loving-kindness, compassion, altruistic joy & equanimity, as well as four of the 5 Buddha families - Amitabha (West), Amoghasiddhi (North), Akshobhya (East) and Ratnasambhava (South).
The Amoghasiddhi Family, specifically, is associated with the North and is represented by the color Green, which symbolizes life, growth, and the breath of life. The Amitabha Family, known as the Padma (Lotus) Family, represents the wisdom of discriminative awareness or discernment & Buddha’s speech, which helps overcome selfishness through methods such as compassion, meditation and reflection. Currently, there is only One Green Stupa left in the World, near Samye Monastery inTibet. Samye Monastery was The Very First Tibetan Monastery and it was likely completed in year 775 and inaugurated in 779, during the 8th Century AD. It was last renovated by the the Tenth Panchen Lama in the 20th Century. The Tashigomang Green Stupa was built by Tibetan King Tri Songdetsen, Padmasambhava & Shantirakshita. This stupa is one of 4 directional stupas on-site built to protect against natural disasters, and Green color is the symbol of Eternity.
My property is facing North/North West, sitting South East/South. Front of the stupa can be inlayed with some Real Jade Decorations, plus solar lights can be installed for night time. Statue of Vira Vajradharma Red inside would represent Amitabha Family and West, while color green outside would be Amoghasiddhi and North.
This design can also be turned into Solar Snow Globe “Green Vira Vajradharma” or “Infinite Awareness” Stupa Feng Shui decoration, to advertise and finance project. I know the Feng Shui factory in Malaysia, that can produce these at the cost effective prices. Mini-snow globes can be sold for $4.99, mid-size $9.99 and given away free to donors. This deign will become universal and will be sold successfully for many years, especially if and after stupa is build. And can be turned into Universal Keychain Feng Shui Cure.
