On December 24, 1966, a Flying Tiger Line Canadair CL-44D4-1 (registration N228SW) crashed while attempting to land at Da Nang Airport, South Vietnam, killing 111 people in total. The crash was the first fatal accident involving the Canadair CL-44 and remains its deadliest. It was also the 11th deadliest aviation disaster of 1966, ranking among the top five deadliest crashes of that year.

Air India Flight 171 crashed on June 12, 2025, just 32 seconds after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating a route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed into the hostel block of B. J. Medical College, killing 241 people on board and 19 on the ground, for a total of 260 fatalities. Only one passenger, Vishwaskumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British national of Indian origin, survived.
